Q: How do we get to Minto/Fort Selkirk?

A: You will arrive in Minto with your own vehicle from Whitehorse or Dawson City, which is located along the Klondike Highway. Signs along the road will direct you to the Yukon River where we will meet you by our boat to guide you to Ft. Selkirk on the river.

Q: Where do we go exactly?

A: Ft. Selkirk, a historic town that used to be a trading place amongst first nations and other traders such as the Hudson’s Bay Company. See the map on the website to give your more of a visual look.

Q: What can we do when we get to Ft. Selkirk?

A: We will begin by introducing and welcoming you to Ft. Selkirk, some safety guidelines as we begin our walk through the town. A guided tour with informative information, leaving you with enough knowledge. We will have our a provided lunch and begin our destination back to Minto.

Q: Will I see wildlife along the way?

A: Yes, chances are you will see bears, moose, and mountain sheep.

Q: How long does it take to get there?

A: An hour to get there, an hour in Ft. Selkirk and an hour and half back. We will be in the wilderness for about 5 hours altogether.

Q: Can we extend the tour a little longer if we wanted?

A: Yes, that shouldn’t be a problem. We would love to have you stay longer, but not too late.

Q: What’s your average group size?

A: At this time, we are only offering a maximum group size of 10 and a minimum of 2 people.

Q: How much is your tour? Do you provide group rates, how much is it for children?

A: Our tour ranges from $225-$500, depends if you want a day tour or stay a couple nights and whether your an adult with children. We offer a group rate discount when you book 10 or more.

Q: What is included in this tour?

A: A river boat tour by a local indigenous guide to Ft. Selkirk, a tour of the town, and a lunch and water or juice.

Q: What is provided in the tour?

A: We will provide life jackets, face masks, hand sanitizer, bug repellent, bear spray for our walk in town, a source of communication with boar operator in case of an emergency while we are walking through town. First Aid if needed, a friendly and respectful atmosphere.

Q: Can I purchase local souvenirs while on this tour?

A: Yes, there will be local people working in Ft. Selkirk who will have art for sale. I also make and create handmade crafts and these will be available for purchase.

Q: Are there accommodations provided in the tour?

A: Yes, you can choose to book a weekend tour and stay two nights under the midnight sun.

Q: What should I bring personally on the tour?

A: Depending on the weather that day, you should dress accordingly. We suggest that you layer your clothing as temperatures can change throughout the day. When the sun is shining it can be very warm but if it starts to rain, it can cool off quickly. Please bring bug repellent of your choice, sunscreen and a camera.

Q: Are there rest stops along the way?

A: Yes, we can stop at the Blanchard’s Woodcamp along the way if necessary. Although there are no restrooms, however, there is many acres of land you can occupy privately.

Q: What is Blanchard’s Woodcamp, where is it located?

A: It’s a historic site that used to be the old Dawson Road along the Yukon River, midway to Ft. Selkirk.

Q: Do you provide life jackets?

A: Yes

Q: Do you provide rain gear?

A: No, but it would be advisable for you to bring your own in case it rains or becomes cold. We also have a canapy on the boat for our protection from the rain.

Q: Do you provide food?

A: Yes, we do, a healthy lunch will be provided when we arrive at Fort Selkirk. Please let me know if you are allergic to anything.

Q: Does your tour provide accessibility for wheelchair access?

A: Unfortunately, we do not have that option with our current boat we have at this time, we will definitely work towards having this option in the future.

Q: Is your tour safe for children?

A: Yes, we provide child-sized life jackets as well. It is the responsibility of the parents to keep your children safe, but we will make sure your child is comfortable on the tour, as we are parents of 3 children ourselves.

Q: Is your tour pet friendly?

A: Yes, you can bring your pet, but you must be responsible for caring for your pet at all times, including providing a life jacket, food, water and doggy bags.

Q: What are your safety and security regulations?

A: Safety is our number one priority. We are licensed guides with wilderness first aid, and a pleasure craft license with many years of operating our boat. There will be a safety briefing. You will be required to sign a waiver form that will have all the information you need to know about your safety and security while on our boat tour. You will also be required to provide information regarding any medical conditions you might have, including medications, allergies and an emergency contact.
