Growing up in Ft. Selkirk as a child

My grandma use to work in Ft. Selkirk as a cook for the restoration project in the 1980’s. I use to tag along with her for the summer months. It was quite the experience and I always looked forward in going there every summer. There were other children that came with their parents too. We use to pretend we were students in the old school adding our books to the old wooden desks that open from the top. We wrote our names on the doors or walls, we played hide n seek in the other buildings, play in the forest, pick berries, and end the day with a camp fire listening to stories that my grandma told. We always had good food to eat, everything was homemade. I especially loved her homemade donuts. The memories she gave by inviting me to be with her in Fort Selkirk are unforgettable.
